Fuelling Young Minds and Bodies
At Heckmondwike FB, we believe in the power of community and are passionate about supporting the organisations and individuals that make our local area thrive. We’re not just about flooring solutions; we’re about building connections and making a positive impact wherever we can. We’re proud to share some of the ways we’ve been giving back recently.
We understand the importance of a good start to the day, especially for children. That’s why we were delighted to donate a freezer to The Trinity Academy, a local school in Halifax that provides a free breakfast for all its students. The ‘Magic Breakfast’ is an initiative which ensures that every child has access to a nutritious meal. It is a cause close to our hearts, especially after discovering how some children are from poverty-stricken backgrounds. All children are treated equally, and they can all help themselves to the free bagel bar.
To further support this initiative, two of our team members even volunteered their time to help prepare and serve the breakfast, including the important task of buttering those all-important bagels!
It was a rewarding experience to see the children enjoying their breakfast and knowing we played a small part in fuelling their day.
Stepping Up for Local Teams and Retreats
We recently had the pleasure of supplying entrance matting for the doorway of Wakefield Wanderers. They even challenged us to a game of walking football, and let’s just say it’s not as easy as it looks! We have a newfound respect for their skills and understand why they have such a fantastic reputation. It was a fun way to connect with a local sports team and contribute to their facilities.
This same durable and practical entrance matting also found a home at Reuben’s Retreat. We created a custom welcome mat for the porch of their Lodge, a vital support centre providing bereavement counselling. Knowing that our products are contributing to such a compassionate and important charity makes us incredibly proud.
A Strong Partnership with Cleckheaton Food Bank
One of our most valued partnerships is with the Cleckheaton Food Bank. Every week, some of our dedicated production staff use our company van to deliver food packages for the less fortunate people in our society.
We’re honoured to play a small role in the tremendous difference this food bank makes to our neighbouring communities. They are a lifeline for so many, and we encourage everyone to learn more about their work and how you can help. Fuelling Community Spirit
We even sponsored our local sandwich shop, Route 59, in their charity bike ride fundraiser! Supporting local businesses and their fundraising efforts is another way we believe in strengthening our community.
We will Continue to Support our Local Community
At Heckmondwike FB, we believe that giving back is an essential part of being a responsible business. We’re committed to continuing our support for local organisations and initiatives that make a difference in the lives of those around us. We believe that together, we can build a stronger and more vibrant community for everyone.
Recently, our fantastic team of Area Sales Managers from up and down the country donned their work uniforms, grabbed their litter pickers, and headed out to help clean up their local areas!
As a UK manufacturer, it is important to us here at Heckmondwike that the land we live on is clean, tidy, and remains a wonderful place to live for everyone. It’s essential to us to do our bit for both the environment, and for the people who live in it. So, we arranged a day where our eager Area Sales Managers could make an impact on their own communities, by cleaning up discarded and unwanted litter.
As well as looking unsightly, litter is bad for the environment in several different ways. Firstly, as it degrades, it releases chemicals which are harmful to the earth and air. It is also known to harm and kill animals who may encounter it. Discarded rubbish can also be a breeding ground for harmful bacteria and diseases which can spread amongst humans and animals, as well as encouraging the spread of pest species. All these reasons make it clear just why it’s important to clear up as much litter as possible, in order to protect the world we live in.
Bob Mortimer, our UK Sales Manager, said: “Bringing together our area sales managers from around the country on this initiative was something both myself and the company were very passionate about. Whilst we can’t clear the entire country of litter, doing our bit to help clean up our local areas, whether that’s in Scotland or South London, feels like a great way of making a small but firm difference.”
“As a company, going forwards we’ve pledged to give our eco-conscious sales managers a day of work-time each year to take part in a local litter pick, contributing to the clean-up of their communities!”.
