Ponteland School is a development that includes a new primary, high school and leisure centre co-located within one multi-purpose building.
The school opened its doors to 1,600 high school pupils, 420 primary school children, alongside 52 nursery places, at the end of 2020.
Designed by Faulkner Browns architects and completed by Kier, the £43m scheme is one of Northumberland County Council’s largest-ever capital programmes. The site forms part of the council’s £142m investment in Northumberland’s schools.
Heckmondwike supplied just over 8,500 square metres of its market-leading Supacord carpet tiles for the project, which were a mix of Steel Grey, Flint and Anthracite. Alongside Supacord, there was also 400 square metres of specialist entrance carpet, Hippo in colour Anthracite.
Supacord is Heckmondwike’s most widely recognised product. Manufactured at the company’s site in West Yorkshire since 1973, the carpet has a widely recognised reputation for being the ideal solution for the education sector.
Supacord is available in 42 colours in both sheet and tile formats and is perfect for any education installation from nursery centres right through to higher education establishments.
Alongside Supacord, Hippo offers the perfect solution for heavy commercial entrance areas. With a substantial pile weight and ribbed structure, Hippo stands the test of time.
All flooring across the school was installed by long-standing Heckmondwike customer, Active Flooring.
