- The Devon free schools, Kingsteignton and Westclyst Primary, are both new build developments that provide much-needed education support and spaces in the local areas.
- Completed at a cost of £12.5 million, the two schools have been developed and constructed using an off-site solution, following Galliford Try’s Optimum Schools principles.
- Both schools were built using lightweight Structurally Insulated Panels (SIPs) to form the structure, internal partitions and floors. The off-site construction also included stair units, alongside technical and electrical systems.
- Overall, the off-site construction method managed to achieve a saving of 14 weeks on programme time against a traditional build process.
- Heckmondwike worked closely with Galliford Try and architects Scott Brownrigg across both Kingsteignton and Westclyst Primary schools – supplying over 2,200 square metres of the company’s Supacord carpet tiles.
