Students living in the Riverside apartments in Salford are guaranteed a bright start to their day after Array carpet tiles from Heckmondwike FB were specified for the development’s corridors.

The carpet was specified by HVB Flooring to refurbish the four storey development, which aims to set a new standard for student living in the North West.

HVB Flooring carefully selected a different Array colour for each level, which included Red and Blue, as well as the new colours Peacock and Marble, to create a striking interior to the building. Complementary Broadrib colours were used alongside Array to give the interior of the apartment block a bright, welcoming feel. Blocks of colour were also used to highlight the location of the lift.

All 50 apartments in the development will now be carpeted with Array to meet the standard set by the new corridor flooring.

Sharni Verity, Marketing Executive at Heckmondwike FB, said: “Array is becoming increasingly popular for student accommodation as it offers stunning aesthetics, as well as the durability and performance of our fibre bonded carpet.  The wide range of colours now available in the Array range mean that some really inspiring designs can be created.”

Array can be installed quickly and easily, which was essential to this development as the refurbishment took place during term time, when the flats were occupied.

Lee Rawsthorne, Director of HVB Flooring, said: “We have specified Array on many projects before, due to its high level of aesthetics and outstanding properties. It was the perfect choice for the corridors and will look great in each of the rooms, too.”

As part of Heckmondwike FB’s Creative Flooring range, Array represents the perfect opportunity for specifiers, designers and flooring contractors to create individual designs for a wide variety of residential flooring applications.

Like all Heckmondwike’s products, Array carpet tiles can be cut on-site without the risk of fraying. The tiles offer antistatic and anti-slip performance, excellent acoustic properties to help reduce noise levels, as well as offering excellent thermal performance.

Array carpet tiles are British-made and provide outstanding performance, as well as being backed by a 10 year limited wear warranty, which means they can be specified in complete confidence.

Digital company LiveLink Tech Ltd has demonstrated how creative carpet design can set the tone for the whole building at its new offices in Havant.

The company specified 60mof Supacord tiles in Graphite, Steel Grey and Red for the refurbished former Havant Council building, working with nationwide flooring contractor Enhanced Floors.

Enhanced Floors recommended that LiveLink chose Supacord by Heckmondwike FB because of its wide choice of colours and its durability.

Geoff Youngs, Technical Director at LiveLink, wanted a Space Invaders’ theme to his office. He liked the idea of using the floor space to create an eye-catching design, which was possible due to the versatility of Supacord tiles.

Graphite was used for the background colourway, with Steel Grey chosen for the alien’s body and Red for the eyes, creating a result that was inspired by the design of the original 1978 arcade game.

The whole impact was enhanced with black window frames, red window sills and a large glass door etched with a screen shot from the retro game.

Geoff Youngs said: “Personalisation is at the core of our business, both for our clients and our clients’ clients. We wanted to create a working environment that reflects both our culture and our strategic priorities. The vibrant carpet tiles gave us the freedom we are used to with computers to personalise the floor with pixels.  The result looks fantastic and has generated lots of positive comments from everyone who has seen it.”

Andrew Bradley, Director at Enhanced Floors, said: “We have worked with Heckmondwike FB for over 20 years and Supacord can be relied upon to provide good performance over the long term.  It was the obvious choice for us to recommend it for creating the striking impression that LiveLink wanted to create!”

Sharni Verity, Marketing Executive at Heckmondwike FB, said: “Supacord was perfect for this project and the Space Invaders design looks amazing! It just goes to show that there should be no limit to what can be achieved with Supacord because of the wide choice of colours we offer.  LiveLink will also have the reassurance that Supacord is known as one of the most hardwearing fibre bonded carpets on the market.”

Supacord’s tough, fibre bonded construction means it is strong enough to withstand heavy footfall, whilst retaining its appearance. Supacord is a very popular choice for a wide range of heavy traffic environments, from offices to schools.

Supacord is available in both sheet and tile formats and with 42 different colour options, it has unique design capabilities since it does not ravel or fray. This means that both the sheets and tiles can be cut on site to create stylish and engaging flooring designs.

Heckmondwike FB carpets and carpet tiles are available with full technical support, as part of the service.  All fibre bonded products are manufactured by Heckmondwike FB at its base in West Yorkshire, where the company is fully certified to ISO 14001, as part of its commitment to sustainability.

Heckmondwike FB’s Supacord fibre bonded carpet tiles have been used to create a colourful learning environment for pupils at a new £17.8m Secondary School in Telford in the West Midlands.

The new Phoenix Academy had 3,000sqm of Supacord Fibre Bonded Carpet specified by SeymourHarris Architecture in seven different colours to create a striking flooring design that runs throughout the school.  SeymourHarris chose carpet tiles in Flint, Graphite, Moonlight, Arctic Blue, Damson, Red and Pacific Blue for the classrooms, library and staff areas of the school, which caters for pupils aged 11 to 16.  These colours from the Supacord range are proving particularly popular with secondary schools where it is important to choose age appropriate colours, as it is widely recognised that this can have a major effect on pupils’ mood and concentration.

A spokesperson for Seymour Harris Architecture, said: “The wide range of colours allowed great flexibility in defining learning and staff areas.  Our choice of Supacord carpet in seven different colours formed a key part of the way finding strategy which we developed in close collaboration with the school”.

Contrasting colours were used to create zonal areas and borders, allowing teachers to use their classrooms flexibly for different learning activities. Contractors Pinnacle Special Projects were able to cut the carpet tiles on site to create the individual flooring designs, thanks to the robust properties of fibre bonded carpet, which will not ravel or fray.

Supacord is renowned for its durability and is widely specified for education buildings where it is able to withstand areas of heavy wear and tear.  Supacord also offers anti-slip and antistatic properties, both of which are a major concern for schools which are looking to protect their students and their equipment.

Supacord has been assessed by the Building Research Establishment (BRE) and has gained a BRE Global A+ environmental rating for use in school buildings, offices and retail outlets, which will help the school to achieve its target of a BREEAM Very Good rating.

Supacord is also compatible with F40 high tack adhesive which provides a sustainable and cost-effective end-of-life solution allowing carpet to be lifted without causing significant damage to the floorcovering or subfloor, as demonstrated in this video
